10 years ago, Chef David owned and operated a restaurant in White Rock, BC. At the restaurant, most people only ordered coffee and sandwiches so he felt like the diners did not appreciate the food he served. The experience gave Chef David the idea of serving food from a central kitchen. By doing so, he is able to lower cost by not wasting money and time on managing restaurants. 

 

Operating from a central kitchen provides Chef David the freedom to concentrate on developing different menus for his customers who truly appreciate his food and express his passion for providing delicious meals to his customers.

Chef David also provides private catering for events. He will meticulously create a menu that will amaze and wow his clients. He enjoys the social interaction in private caterings because he is able to interact with customers face-to-face and receive immediate feedback for his dishes. Through feedback from clients, he is able to improve and create a world class experience for different kinds of clients.

Chef David’s experience as an executive chef at several 5-star hotel restaurants has given him the confidence to operate and run from a central kitchen all the way from designing menus, recipes, controlling costs and marketing to ensure a profitable and sustainable operation.

The Beginning of Blue Ivy

The 2020 pandemic greatly affected the economy and it shut down hotel restaurants in greater Vancouver and Chef David was sadly let go. This unfortunate situation turned a new leaf for Chef David as it was the perfect opportunity for him to re-visit his idea of serving food directly to customers from a central kitchen through online ordering.

Chef David met up with his friends Ming and Anthony who supported his idea of developing a commercial kitchen concept and providing cooked meals to customers through online meal delivery platform.

What's Next For Chef David

Chef David’s next step is to expand Blue Ivy Catering and Online Delivery services in the lower Mainland and cities also operating from a commercial kitchen concept. Blue Ivy will work with other chefs from many different Canadian cities to develop and operate out of a central kitchen where Chef David will continue to be the executive chef and managing director of Blue Ivy. He can then spend more time developing many cross platform meals for the customers including plant-based meals. His next challenge is to combine the many existing Western style plant-based menus together with the Asian style plant-based menus and become the Blue Ivy plant-based menus.
